My birthday and other nonence

Okay! True Story Time!

How to get kids interested in archery.

Step 1. Have an event where archery can be included say the apple fest at Erddig

Step two (enter hero stage left)
have your hero find the deserted stand with bored looking merchant and pay for a go.

'Have you done this before love?'
'once or twice'
Picks up bow, glances round at two children watching
'okay we have six targets...'
*has already raised bow and started.*
Bulls eye! Bulls eye! Bulls eye! Bulls eye! Bulls eye! *kids eagerly call and gather there mates round watching the last shot after a long dramatic pause*
*Pulls back bow* *slight gasp from the children!*
Bulls eye!
The group your with clap and as you walk away the store merchant asks your. Name.
'Robin of Loxley' you reply with a wink.
'once or twice huh!'
Ten minutes later the place is packed with kids and dads trying to out best each other. Job done.

i love robin hood! so much so that today when i opened my presents i found a brilliant robin hood book and a note from 9th Crayon,

" 'i saw this and thought of you' doesn't quite hit the mark enough to describe the compulsion that came over me when i saw this book. It would be closer if i said i saw this book and for a second i thought it was actually you! "

So as i can see doubt on your faces let me prove it to you (if the above true story hasn't already)

So  this was the picture on the front of the book... and beneath it me...

So do i like archery? yeah!!! can i lead people to victory?

welllll..... maybe not...

my ways of leading may not always please people...

and sure I'll go the wrong way and have to think over my mistakes.

I might even end up on my arse a couple of times....

But with a little bit of luck, and my friends  I'll always come through in the end.

even if it does take practise...

It was a few years when  my friends and I decided to write a robin hood play, and naturally I threw myself right into the part of Robin, unfortunately it was a comedy which meant a lot of getting it wrong but it was fun most of the pictures above are from our script read through and action walk through. It was never made because slowly everyone disappeared off to university and various other parts of the country. we could class it as the casts crusades, but as all my friends know I'm still Exactly where I started.

I may not be maid Marian

but i have been known to don a few disguises!

at the end of the day even if I'm down, I'll get up again and fight for justice.

and if that's not Robin Hood....

Then i don't know what is.

So! thanks for the present 9th Crayon! I love it! :D XxX

Looking foward.

As we head towards December and the New Year a lot of us find ourselves looking back over the year to see where we have come from. We sometimes make resolutions to make the New Year better and to learn from mistakes we may have made just to make our future better. So looking back becomes looking forward.

So my year hasn’t been particularly brilliant. It started with the loss of my Nan.
So do I see from this?
I see that I'm maybe not as strong as I used to be in some parts of my life, but in others I'm a lot stronger.
I know I can go to friends and ask for help rather than dealing with things myself and I know that asking for help is the stronger move.

The rest of the year has been better, I’ve seen a lot of some people but very little of others.

So what have I got to look forward to? If this year has taught me anything its that life no matter how down it gets will always rise up even if it takes time, the most important thing you can to is to help that rise happen. A smile at an unhappy face will always make you feel better (even more so if the person smiles back) a kind word goes a long way even if you don’t realise it. And every year you live will count to your future in ways you can’t imagine. Good things do come back to you in a good way even if it’s not immediately.

I'm a little apprehensive about Christmas though.

I have presents to give people who aren’t my family, so I don’t know how they will be received, but all the same I'm feeling like the boy in the John Lewis advert!
 The John Lewis Advert!
I want to give my present’s soo much!!! Even if I still have 25 days to go! I know full well that all my friends back home are going to miss out on Christmas cards and presents from me (anyone offended please yell at me) But what I try to do is have Christmas all year. If I don’t get someone a present then in July you’re moaning that you want something  but can’t afford it  well chances are you’re going to get a present If I can!

Anyway! Enough waffle from me!  I’ll probably write again next year now as I won’t have the opportunity to until then

Happy Christmas! God Bless you all! And I hope your Christmas is as good as it can be! XxX

Snakes deer and other odditys! (yes i mean ME!) :P

So I was quite brave today, for me at any rate!
We were at one of Colin’s lovely trips this time to Blakemere.
This trip included a visit to an Avery, to see loads of really gorgeous Falcons Eagles and owls of all shapes and sizes.

On top of this I got to stroke a corn snake with another member of our group.

I know I know! Corn snakes are relatively harmless and its not like I was stroking a Hooded Cobra or a Hydrophis Belcheri

But I was actually a little nervous. Now I have many friends with lizards  dragons and gecko’s (hi 9th Crayon) which I have had the privilege of holding stroking, or generally looking at and going ‘ermm no you’re okay it can stay with… oh… its not so bad actually!’
But Snakes are something I haven’t had the opportunity to handle yet.
I already knew they weren’t slimy or sticky or anything like that, and I know a few little facts and things (or I think I do so I'm not typing them!!!)
But it surprised me how light yet how heavy it was, and how warm!

The other Lady I was with, (there were only three of us went to see the Avery out of a group of 16! Terrible!!!) Was also thrilled to touch a snake.

One of the other trips I’ve been on this year with Colin was a trip to Boddlwythan castle  and I took my old camera and tried my hand at a little bit of photography. There not brilliant but I like them!

and from the Ocassional Trish! That’s all! XxX

Working on Saturdays

Is there any other job which I can jump into a bag full of leaves!  Spend all summer out in the sun and get a lovley tan! Well if there is let me know!

I've had a brilliant day today. We mowed loads of lawns annd there was a big pile of leaves... I really wanted to jump in it! But I had to pile it into a big bag. So when the bag was full I squished it into the bag instead.

And I came home to a lovley custard pie! Yummy!  so it might be short and it might not be very interesting so... heres a little extract that I wrote while doing some character plotting.

Leaning in to type Wade found himself smiling.  He knew she was right behind him and now he just couldn’t concentrate he tried several times to touch the keys and type a paragraph, a sentence, even one word would do. Sighing he looked down at his feet.
“I really can’t concentrate with you there.”
She stepped forward and put an arm around his neck and rubbed his shoulders.
“Is this better?” she asked close to his ear. He leant back in his seat the computer and his report forgotten and closed his eyes. There were so many feelings and so many different thoughts going round in his mind then she stopped and he felt something else.
A kiss.
Their very first kiss.

Fireworks would be to cliché. Forever wouldn’t be long enough. And it would have been perfect if Max hadn’t walked in.

Max didn’t say anything, he simply stood there lost in the moment the two were sharing wishing he could tear Wade apart with his eyes
Both of them had there eyes closed and if they had opened them they would have been too lost in each other for either one of them to even notice Max.

He backed away and out of the room slowly coming across Switch on his way to see Wade. Putting out an arm he pulled him short of the door.
“He’s a little busy Switch.” Max said anger rising. He suddenly wondered why he had stopped Switch going in, in the first place. “With Vixen.” He added in a short harsh voice.

well. there you go!

Robin hood journey to the crusades.

As a big fan of robin hood i like to dabble in writing a little fan fiction. here is a short chapter. If you'd like to comment you are more than welcome!
I know its not very long.

The Cart lunged forward as it sank deep into the thick mud. The two men on Robin’s left stood up almost instantly as they had been asked the last four times to push.
“Sit down lads.”
Robin recognised the voice almost immediately.
“Let his majesty have a go.”
The mocking tone was almost too much to bear. Already he was wishing he had waited for Marian to return home so he could say good bye.
“Afraid to get your hands dirty my lord?”
The two men who had stood up glanced down at Robin.
“He’s never going to be able to push it alone Sir James.”
Robin stood up, pulled back his sleeves and jumped into the knee high mud.
There was laughter from behind him on the Cart but Robin walked right to the front to the horse. It snorted in his face and then let out a long whinny. Robin stoked its head and looked deep into the animal’s eyes. Just like him it was longing for warmth.  Then Robin walked round the cart and examined all the wheels.
His hand met a gap on the bottom of one of the wheels and pulling himself back onto the cart he picked up his broad sword. There were two other sloshes as she leapt back into the mud.
“You two get back on here now! That’s an order!” Sir James of Winchester yelled.
Robin fixed his sword in the gap made by the missing spoke and then called for the driver to urge the horse forward and pushed.
There was yet more laughter as the moving cart left Robin face down in the mud.
Struggling up, caked in mud Robin sighed. This was going to be a long trip.
Walking back up to the cart Sir James of Winchester held out his hand.
Wiping it clean of all the mud he could Robin took it and was hauled up back onto the cart.
“You did better than I though you would Master Robin. Clearly all of your childish exploits have paid off in some way.”
He turned his back on Robin before he could think of anything to reply.

“Don’t take it to heart.” A voice said as Robin sank back down onto the cart.
“He does this to every person born to some title.”
The voices owner passed Robin a length of material to wipe his face with.
“Wessex, Sussex and Dorset all had the same treatment.”
Robin looked up.
“Sir Chase is fighting?”
“Sent home last week.”
“Dead.”
It was only then that Robin realized that there was two men not one talking. Both casually finishing each others sentences and statements as if one.
“Chase is dead?” Robin asked.
“Came home with the second wave.” The first said taking a seat to Robin’s right.
“Arrow in the back.” The other said sitting on Robins left.
“Punctured his lung.”
“Didn’t see it coming.”
Both paused before both adding.
“Poor thing.”

Both got up nearly in time then sank back down as the cart swayed once again into a heavy stop. Robin rose to his feet and leapt off walking up to the horse and gently coaxing it forward the cart began to move. As soon as it was free of the mud
Robin turned to Winchester.
“The horse needs to rest.”
It had been many hours since the small cart and the others following it had started travelling through the day. Day had turned to night several times already.
“Who are you to make such judgment?”
Winchester drew his sword.
“Get back on this cart or I will proclaim you a traitor to your King.”
Robin didn’t move.
“The horse needs to rest.”
Jumping down Winchester walked right up to him.
Robin didn’t move.
“You picked the poorest of the bunch he is going lame in his back leg and the shoe on his left foreleg is loose. If you continue to work the animal any more he will be fit for nothing days before we even get to the shore.”
Winchester turned to the cart.
“The young boy here claims we’re hurting the horse…”
He turned back to Robin with a glint in his eye.
“How’s about we relieve the burden this poor beast has to carry and walk some of the way?”
The carts occupants were already disembarking.
“And since the boy here is worried for the poor beast…” he announced to the cart before turning.
“You won’t mind pulling the cart instead will you?”
For seven, heavy, mainly up hill miles Robin pulled the cart with Winchester sitting at the driver’s seat. Until finally he called him to stop.
“I can keep going…” Robin breathed.
“No need.” Winchester said putting his arm around him.
“Your bed for the night awaits.” He motioned to a small camp.
“I'm impressed Loxley.” He said lifting up the horse’s reigns. “I'm very impressed.”
He smiled and pushed him over towards the camp.
“Get some rest otherwise you’ll end up like the horse.”
